Weekly Recap: 9 Weeks Until the Paris Marathon

Is it spring yet? The London winters aren’t nearly as cold (or slippery) as Minnesota, but I am still eager for some sunshine and warmer temps! But I’ll keep plugging along in Paris training, hoping to see the sunrise soon…

Monday: Easy 7 mile run before work. I had to wfh for a bit as our landlords (they own the place, but live in Hong Kong) were in town and coming over with their architect as they are planning some remodeling. We had never met them before in person; they were lovely.

Then I went into the office for the rest of the day, squeezing in a 45 minute strength class after work at Psycle.

Tuesday: Run commute and office run, 7.5 miles. Heartcore pilates after work.

Wednesday: I slept in (9 hours, my Whoop was happy) so I needed to do my speed workout after work, which is not my favorite. And sadly, the track wasn’t officially open so the lights weren’t on…so I was running 800m repeats in the dark. That takes mental strength right? 6x800m with 400m jog in between for 7 miles total.

Thursday: Galentine’s run with friends! 7 miles. All the pink!

That evening, Dustin and I went to see Streetcar Named Desire with Paul Mescal. I like Paul, but I didn’t love this play. Some friends had raved about it so perhaps my expectations were too high. I didn’t love it quite the same as they did.

We grabbed a drink beforehand at the Seven Dials Market.

Friday: Run with my Valentine, Ruth! I had some marathon pace in there: warm-up, 2 miles at GMP, 1/2 jog, 2 miles at GMP, 1/2 jog, cool-down for 8 miles total.

I came home to some very sweet mail from my dad (he’s the best.) He sent us an “obituary” for Matilda. Definitely brought some tears to this house…

Saturday: 7 mile run with Dustin. I had a hair appointment so pushed my long run to Sunday (and I had plans to meet some American friends as well on Sunday, ,so made sense to do my long run with them.)

That evening, we went to another play, this time Oedipus with Rami Malek (from Bohemian Rhapsody and Mr. Robot) and Indira Varma. It was a modern take on the Shakespeare play- very good! A much better play than Thursday’s was (in my opinion, but everyone likes different types of shows!)

Sunday: I ran to Hyde park and connected with my friend Katy and her friend Vivian from Seattle that I had met before; Vivian is around my pace (Katy is much faster, but was running with us), and she was doing 6×10 min at an 8:20-8:30 pace so I hopped into her workout. It was fun and not all that different than what my coach had on my plan (he understood when I explained that I wanted to run with my friends.) 17 miles total on the day.

Summary: 60 miles of running, 1 pilates classes and 1 other strength session.

That’s a wrap! I’m linking up with Running on the Fly and Confessions of a Mother Runner; check out their blogs to connect with other fitness bloggers for workout ideas and inspiration!
