Weekly Recap: 13 Weeks Until the Paris Marathon

Another week of training for the Paris marathon complete.

Still struggling with the loss of Matilda; if you missed my tribute to my best good girl, here it is.

Ruth is adjusting to life as an only child. We are all struggling a bit and miss Matilda.

Here’s how this past week went in training.

Monday: Easy run with friends, with some strides at the end. 8 miles.

There were some crisp mornings this week (like the one from the header photo in the Heath, above and the below pic from Kenwood House) but by midweek, it was warm enough for shorts again.

Reformer pilates at a new studio in Kentish Town called “The Island” after work.

Tuesday: Track Tuesday! Warm-up, 6x800m with a 400m jog in between, cooldown for 7 miles total. There were 5 other runners on the track, running in the moonlight. We were rewarded with a gorgeous sunrise!

Another reformer pilates class at the Island after work. My friend Tina was trying out pilates for the first time, so we took a beginners class together. Its nice to sometimes get a refresh on the basics with a focus on form.

Wednesday: Run commute + office run, 7.6 miles. Long day at the office, so didn’t get home until after 9 pm.

Thursday: Decided to run commute solo, 4 miles. Hadn’t planned ahead so my backpack was quite heavy with clothes and more.

45 minute strength class at Psycle after work- it was hard! I am feeling it afterwards since it was more heavy lifting than I’m used to.

Friday: Lunch run solo, 6.5 miles. What a treat to sneak out over lunch.

That evening, Dustin and I went to a “gig” near Borough Market for a band called the Barr Brothers; he went to high school with them at Tabor Academy in Boston. Interesting show- not my favorite…

Saturday: 4 mile shake-out run with Dustin and Ruth followed by some strides.

Sunday: I’m racing the Fred Hughes 10 mile race in St. Albans (a “suburb’ of London). WIll report back and update this post when I’m done! I’m meant to do a 15 min warmup so assuming I’ll get about 11-12 miles in total. Dustin is racing this one as well.

Summary: Just under 50 miles of running, 2 pilates classes and one other strength session

I’m off to NYC on Monday for work for the week (just in time for the inauguration, hadn’t really thought about that.) It’s jam packed with meetings and work dinners, but I really hope to still get some early morning miles in. I’m going to try my best but also give myself some grace if it just doesn’t happen.

That’s a wrap! I’m linking up with Running on the Fly and Confessions of a Mother Runner; check out their blogs to connect with other fitness bloggers for workout ideas and inspiration!
