Stormers lose playmaker to injury

The DHL Stormers will reportedly be without a key member of the backline for the remainder of the Vodacom URC campaign.

According to an article on Netwerk24, scrumhalf Paul de Wet injured his knee during training this week. With the severity of the setback, it’s unlikely that the 28-year-old will return to action soon.

De Wet’s absence leaves a significant void, particularly in his dynamic playmaking behind the scrum. His adept support play on the attack has been a cornerstone of the team’s strategy.

However, the Capetonians possess depth in the scrumhalf position. World Cup-winning No 9 Herschel Jantjies is ready to step up, bringing his own brand of skill and flair.

Stefan Ungerer, who is on the bench for the URC clash with Leinster in Cape Town on Saturday, showcased his abilities against Ospreys last week.
