Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund eyeing sensational move for Man United target Chris Rigg – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United under INEOS have shifted away from the Glazers’ policy of only signing mercenaries for big sums as seen from their business this summer.

They have refused to sign players above a certain age with Sir Jim Ratcliffe making it clear that the club would focus on unearthing gems rather than buying them.

Quite a few promising starlets such as Chido Obi-Martin, Samuel Lusale and Sekou Kone have signed on dotted lines but Chris Rigg of Sunderland was one player that declined a move to Old Trafford.

The Sunderland starlet has been monitored for sometime now but it seems the 17-year-old could he headed abroad to follow in the footsteps of Jude Bellingham.

Rigg is a player in demand

He has been shining in the Championship, playing 22 times as a 16-year-old last season, and has started in all of their games this term.

He can play all across the midfield and even out wide if needed and is the latest Championship starlet staring at a huge future move down the line.

Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid are intensifying their efforts to sign the Black Cats star who they feel is “the best young English player since Jude Bellingham”.

As per HITC, “Rigg signed his first professional deal with Sunderland in the summer when he turned 17, rejecting overtures from a number of Premier League clubs, including rivals Newcastle United and Manchester United.

“English clubs think he has a huge future and is likely to be the next big-money Championship departure following the likes of Adam Wharton and Archie Gray.

Real, Borussia eyeing Sunderland starlet

“However, unlike Wharton and Gray – Rigg’s big move may not be to the Premier League, as HITC can confirm that Borussia Dortmund are looking at him to potentially follow in the footsteps of Bellingham – who they signed from Birmingham when he was 17.

“Fellow German outfit RB Leipzig are also keeping close tracks on Rigg along with Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich. Real Madrid have also been watching Rigg for over 12 months and are monitoring his progress.”

English stars are no longer fearful of moving abroad with many going down that route. But that should not deter United from trying again next summer.

They have already beaten off interest from Los Blancos for Leny Yoro, and there is no reason why they cannot do the same in the case of Rigg.
