Paolo di Canio slams Man United for selling Scott McTominay to Napoli – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United and Scott McTominay parted ways in the summer with the midfielder joining Serie A giants Napoli on a permanent transfer.

United agreed a modest £25 million fee with the Italians to help ease the strain on Premier League PSR constraints and allow the Scot to get regular first-team football.

Since then, McTominay has settled into his new surroundings nicely, impressing the home support with his typical, all-action displays.

As relayed by Sport Witness, one famous local in particular has watched with a keen eye and has been left in no doubt Napoli have secured a coup in signing the 27-year-old.

Former Premier League forward Paolo di Canio has expressed disbelief regarding the transfer and gave a headline grabbing assessment on United’s decision makers.

“I would go to Manchester United to arrest all the directors: how do you give McTominay away?” the Italian said.

McTominay has scored twice and made one assist since the start of the season and looks set to flourish under the guidance of Antonio Conte.

Di Canio’s message comes at a time when United’s hierarchy are under huge pressure to make a decision on manager Erik ten Hag who gave the green light on McTominay’s move.

United’s poor start to the season has left them languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table having scored just five goals from seven league games.

Furthermore, McTominay’s replacement Manuel Ugarte has struggled to settle into life in a new league as quickly as the former Red as in Italy, leaving fans wondering if the club have made the right decision.

Ugarte is expected to feature a lot more after the international break and will be judged in the coming months after a slow start to life in Manchester.

Having been at the club since a child, everyone connected with United will continue to keep a keen eye on McTominay’s progress and wish him all the best as he continues to make his mark in Europe.

United are back in action after the conclusion of the international break with Brentford visiting Old Trafford on October 19.
