Manchester United are considering a surprise move for Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies, according to Florian Plettenberg.
Shaw has been United’s regular left-back over the past decade, but he has been prone to missing plenty of games with injuries every season.
United’s new hierarchy are said to be frustrated over the same and there is a possibility that Shaw could be offloaded by next summer.
Plettenberg claims that United are weighing up an ambitious move for Davies whose contract with Bayern expires at the end of the campaign.
However, it is highly unlikely that the Canada international will choose them, particularly with huge interest from Real Madrid this year.
Madrid looked at the prospect of signing him over the summer, but they decided against the possibility due to the £60 million price tag.
They are now prepared to wait until January to discuss a pre-contract for a free transfer. Davies is unlikely to turn them down for United.
