Manchester United have decided against pursuing the signature of Brentford striker Ivan Toney, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The England international has entered the last year of his contract with the Bees and he has been tipped to secure a new club.
United have been fancied to sign him in recent weeks, but Plettenberg claims that the club are no longer in the running for his services.
The Red Devils recently recruited Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna to bolster their strikeforce. He is set to compete with Rasmus Hojlund.
The hierarchy don’t feel the need for another marksman and they are prepared to spend the money on other positions before the deadline.
The club are eyeing a new defensive midfielder, right-back and another centre-back before the transfer window closes on August 30.
Manuel Ugarte, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui are the prime targets, but their deals could directly depend on possible exits.
The likes of Scott McTominay, Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have been widely tipped to leave the club in the near future.
