Japan 2024/25 adidas x Y-3 Home and Away Kits

The Japan Football Association has unveiled the home and away kits to be worn by its men’s and women’s national teams for the 2024/25 international soccer season.

The jerseys are a collaboration between Yohji Yamamoto’s brand “Y-3” and adidas, marking the first time the brand has been used by the Japan national football team. They use the concept “FIRE” as their central design element.

The flame graphic, a consistent motif throughout the Japan national team uniform over the years, was designed by Yohji Yamamoto and symbolizes the unwavering strength of the team and the mysterious power of Japan.

Each flame represents the players and supporters, whose thoughts swirl together to form an “eye of flame,” expressing their collective power soaring as the strength of the Japanese football teams.

The Japan 2024/25 Y-3 x adidas home kit features a dark navy base with a “blue flame” motif inspired by the Japan national football team’s style of play, which is willing to burn completely. The graphics on the uniform depict small undulating flames growing into one large pillar of fire, symbolizing the underlying strength of the team that emerges when each player becomes one.

In contrast, the Japanese 24/25 away shirt is based on white but uses a different “red flame” graphic. The flames, precisely arranged with margins, represent the spirited play on the pitch by a team full of youth. The “asymmetrical” design is symbolic of Yohji Yamamoto.

Nadeshiko Japan (Japan Women’s National Team) will be the first side to wear the new home kit when it meets Ghana at the MS&AD CUP 2024, scheduled on Saturday, July 13th.
