Manchester United’s pre-season tour of the United States has resulted in two major injuries and a couple of defeats at the hands of their fierce rivals.
The Red Devils were by far the more dominant side in their last game against Liverpool but still ended up losing 0-3 with the team badly missing Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund’s presence.
The game was yet another reminder to INEOS that they might have strengthened at the back and upfront but the midfield remains an area of concern with Casemiro looking just as poor as he did last term.
The Brazilian struggled to track back, was easily bypassed by the Liverpool attackers and he looked slow, no wonder INEOS are prepared to ignore Erik ten Hag in a bid to try and move on the 32-year-old.
United need a new DM
Saudi clubs are yet to bid for him and that has meant a deal for Manuel Ugarte of Paris Saint-Germain has not materialised. His asking price remains beyond the 20-time English league champions as of now.
Sofyan Amrabat remains a backup option but he cannot be the lone midfield addition. The Old Trafford side need someone of more quality.
HITC Football have claimed that Borussia Monchengladbach have offered Manu Kone‘s service to quite a Premier League outfits including United. His asking price of only £20 million makes him quite an attractive option.
“HITC understands that Manu Kone has been offered to a host of clubs in England in the last few weeks. The 23-year-old midfielder has been offered to Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United as well as Fulham.
“Sources have told HITC that Gladbach want around £20 million for the 23-year-old this summer after his request to leave. Kone is currently at the Olympics with the French squad – a move away is expected to accelerate once his time in Paris finishes.”
Kone offered to PL quartet
The 23-year-old is currently busy with the France team at the Paris Olympics and he has already made it clear to his club that he will not be staying beyond the summer.
“Manu Kone told us quite early on that he wanted to leave the club,” Monchengladbach director Roland Virkus confirmed last week.
He has been scouted by United in the past and can play all across the midfield, including as the defensive midfielder. But whether he has the quality to make the jump to the biggest club in the world is still not clear.
Among the aforementioned quartet, only Fulham and United are in dire need of a midfielder. INEOS have a lot to ponder over with the start of the season only a few days away.
