MANILA, Philippines — Deanna Wong believes that team cohesion has been the driving force behind Choco Mucho’s four consecutive wins in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
Wong came off the bench, tossing 11 excellent sets and scoring four points to lead Choco Mucho to a 25-21, 19-25, 25-23, 25-15 win over Akari on Saturday night at Philsports Arena.

With the Flying Titans forcing a triple tie at 6-3 with PLDT and Cignal, the star setter likes how their bond became stronger after a slow start in the season.

“One person alone can’t win a game. If the reception is off, we cover the attack—everything we do is connected,” Wong said. “We’re happy because, little by little, we’re reaching the goal we want to achieve.”

“We were trying to be patient with each other and offering support. If one of us struggled, we stepped in to help them get back on track. It was a team effort,” she added.
Wong said their familiarity helped her in orchestrating Choco Mucho’s balanced attack, led by Sisi Rondina and Dindin Santiago-Manabat.

“I know them well. We’ve been together for a long time, but we can’t deny that there are off days. We really need good timing. Coach Dante always tells us that we have to find our rhythm and timing in everything we do on the court,” she said.
“It’s an advantage that we’ve been playing together for a while, but I think we also need to know when and what to do in different situations.”
Wong and the Flying Titans continue to bank on connection and trust as they eye their fifth consecutive win against the Nxled Chameleons on Thursday next week.
