ATP Rankings: Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner Crush Novak Djokovic Aside to Establish a New Era of Men’s Tennis

The French Open has finally come to a close now and with all the drama and anticipation budding around for 2 weeks, the world finally saw a new winner in the form of Carlos Alcaraz. Coming into the tournament after injuries, there were multiple doubts on both him and Jannik Sinner. However, the two eventually managed to put up a show with the latter managing to make his way into the last 4.

That being said, with the event ending, a lot has changed in terms of the new ATP ranking and the the world has finally witnessed a new number one. After years of dominance by the Serbian, he has finally been taken out from his spot and Jannik Sinner, who managed to make his way into the final 4 is the new world number 1. On the other hand, Carlos Alcaraz, who made history and claimed his maiden Roland Garros title has also made a huge jump and is now on the second spot with 8580 points.

Novak Djokovic, who decided to withdraw from the quarter-finals of the tournament owing to injury has to now settle for the third sport, a spot that he hasn’t been near to in ages. However, he is not far behind Alcaraz. With a deduction of 1600 points, he is now in the third spot with 8,360 points to his name.

Thus, with the clay season coming to an end, there has been a lot of shuffling going on in the ATP world with the domination of Jannik Sinner coming to the forefront. With Alcaraz winning, he has also made a huge claim that he not settling for anything less and will try to lure the number 1 spot yet again from Sinner. That being said, with Carlos Alcaraz moving up the places, how much has his opponent in the final Alexander Zverev moved in the rankings?

Talking about Zverev, the German managed to pull out a show in the final. However, after a gripping encounter, he bowed out and had to settle for the second place. Despite making his way to the finals, he did not make any jump into the rankings and is currently in the fourth spot.

He has 6,885 points to his name. Apart from that, Casper Ruud, who managed to make his way into the semi-finals holds the 7th spot with 4,025 points to his name. Thus, that being said, not a lot has changed in the ATP rankings. While Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz saw a major jump into the rankings, the rest of the place is not much changed with just Alex de Minaur making his way into the top 10 by securing the 9th spot.
