Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz is in advanced negotiations with Juventus in a deal that would see Weston McKennie and Samuel Iling Jr moving in the opposite direction.

The Villans are under pressure to meet their commitments to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) before June 30, and Douglas Luiz now looks poised to swap the Premier League for Serie A. The Brazil international, 26, netted 10 goals and registered as many assists in 53 appearances for Aston Villa this past season, as Unai Emery’s men secured surprise Champions League qualification via a fantastic top-four finish.

Aston Villa are reportedly set to pocket around £ 16 million in cash for Cash while also signing Weston McKennie and Samuel Iling Jr as part of the package. The two clubs are ironing out the final details on a player-plus-cash swap deal. The deals are separate but all remain part of the same negotiation.

Are Weston McKennie and Samuel Iling Jr heading to Villa Park?

Aston Villa look to strengthen their squad ahead of their Champions League adventure while staying on the right side of the PSG rules and regulations. They are planning to offload Luiz to Juventus in a part-exchange deal that would see McKennie and Iling Jr moving to Villa Park.

McKennie has had a taste of Premier League football—having played for Leeds United 20 times after joining on loan from Juventus in January 2023. Upon his return to the Old Lady following the expiration of his contract last summer, the USA international became a mainstay in ex-manager Max Allegri’s side.

Meanwhile, Iling Jr, formerly of Chelsea academy, has long been admired by Villa and is now planning to return to England this summer after four years with Juventus. The English hotshot has played 45 times for Juventus’ senior side—including 24 Serie A appearances last season.

It looks like Luiz’s time at Villa Park is coming to an end. Villa are ready to offload the Brazilian in an attempt to balance their books. Negotiations are getting closer to a full agreement, and as Villa are set to receive a fee in addition to the acquisitions of McKennie and Iling Jr in exchange for Luiz, Unai Emery should be a happy man.
