After Offering to Pay Walk-Ons With His Salary, Lane Kiffin Stands Firm Against the Newly Proposed 85-Man Roster Limit

There’s a big shakeup happening in college football! The NCAA is considering cutting walk-on players from rosters. This doesn’t sit well with SEC coaches like Lane Kiffin, who recently met with his bosses to fight for walk-ons. According to The Athletic, they even offered to take a pay cut to cover the costs, saying, “We’ll pay it for it out of our salary.”

The NCAA plans to remove scholarship limits while lowering the overall roster size from 120 to 85-95. Kiffin worries the new limits are too restrictive, calling it a risky move. “The move now is people have started to not play in bowl games so they don’t get hurt to go in the portal,” Kiffin says. Unfortunately, it seems money isn’t the main concern for the NCAA.
