Americans abroad: Christian Pulisic back in the lineup for AC Milan? Can Weston McKennie, Tim Weah stay hot?

With Champions League soccer around the corner for the midweek slate, this is a time when top sides will look to rotate which means that out of favor Americans could get a look in. By impressing in those chances, it’s an easy way to become regulars in their sides. Others like Weston McKennie and Tim Weah may receive chances to continue their hot form. The duo scored midweek for Juventus and will be looking to do the same against Udinese during a loaded Saturday in Serie A for Americans.

Let’s take a look at what to watch for during the weekend

Weston McKennie & Tim Weah: Udinese vs. Juventus

Saturday, Nov. 2 (1 p.m. ET Paramount+)

Juventus may not have been in the best of form since losing Bremer to injury but that’s not due to a lack of effort from their American contingent. Both McKennie and Weah have been in top form trying to pace the attack but they need support from those around them. Facing a Udinese side that has improved this season, it won’t be as easy to score as it has been recently but with how the duo has performed, that mat not matter.

Christian Pulisic & Yunus Musah: Moza vs. Milan

Saturday, Nov. 2 (3:45 p.m. ET Paramount+)

Due to illness, Christian Pulisic was unable to start Milan’s last game, but their talisman still came off the bench trying to make things happen. Now with time behind him, it’ll be worth watching if Paulo Fonseca starts him from the bench again with Champions League play coming. As far as Pulisic goes, Milan will go, but if he doesn’t start, that could bring Yunus Musah back into the starting XI as well which provides more of an opportunity for him to establish himself.

Mark McKenzie: Toulouse vs. Riems

Sunday, Nov. 3 (9 a.m. ET fubo TV)

A regular starter for the French side, Mark McKenzie has been growing during his short time with Toulouse. Riems may not be one of the most dangerous sides in Ligue 1, but their attack can make things happen. With strong versatile attackers all around the side, they can offer a unique challenge to the defense. McKenzie will need to switch off with his teammates more than usual adding to the growth opportunities that he can gain in France.

Joe Scally: Borussia Monchengladbach vs. Werder Bremen

Sunday, Nov. 3 (11:30 a.m. ET ESPN+)

Werder Bremen can’t defend but they can make things happen through the wings that Joe Scally will need to patrol. Scally hasn’t been getting forward as much as usual, but this could be a time for him to break out. In 10 matches in all competitions, he has yet to register a goal or an assist after being involved in five last season but if he can continue to improve defensively that may not happen.

Antonee Robinson: Fulham vs. Brentford

Monday, Nov. 4 (3 p.m. ET USA and fuboTV)

Antonee Robinson has become one of the best left backs in the entire Premier League but he’ll have a challenge on Monday. Bryan Mbuemo has been in form for the Bees with eight goals already in league play. Robinson has been able to charge forward but balance will be key. If he can maintain both, there’s a good chance that Fulham can secure a result but they’ll have to give it all that they have.
